DESCRIPTION:While much has recently been made of movements such as those for gay marriage and transgenderism and their impact on society\, church and family\, they are in fact only the warning signs of a much larger agenda\, namely the redefinition of humanity itself. This talk will introduce listeners to new movements coming out of universities\, think tanks and alternative spirituality groups which question our basic understanding of what it means to be human. In its place they are proposing a vision which would radically alter not only basic social norms\, but also laws\, technology and even biology itself. Some of the issues posthumanism raises include: “human rights” for animals and machines\, biologically merging humans with other species\, and recognized romantic relationships between humans and nonhuman entities. Since launching SFLA’s full-time operation\, Kristan has more than quadrupled the number of campus pro-life groups in the U.S.\, from 181 to over 1\,030 in 50 states. Today\, SFLA is the only pro-life organization with full-time team members around the nation. When he got out\, he turned back to drugs.Then Paul Grodell gave Bradford a job and took him under his wing. “For the first time ever there was a man who didn’t want anything from me but to see me get healthy\,” Bradford says. Grodell’s effort succeeded where government programs didn’t and transformed Bradford’s life.

He then went on to receive his doctorate in Church History and Historical Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois while serving as pastor at Chain of Lakes. His dissertation was on the changing relationship between Catholics and Evangelicals in the United States from 1950 to 2000. \nIn addition to a diverse professional background\, Dr. Sweeting has served with many ministries and organizations. Today he serves on the board of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and on the executive committee of the Fellowship of Evangelical Seminary Presidents. Is there a solution beyond the November election? \nJoin us for an information session on a proposed solution: The Convention of States Project\, which seeks to utilize Article V of the United States Constitution and call a Convention of States to restrict the power and jurisdiction of the federal government. \nMichael Farris\, renowned constitutional attorney\, will discuss what a Convention of States is within the context of the U.S. Constitution\, how the Founders originally envisioned States’ ability to be the check on the federal government\, and what you should be aware of to make an in-formed decision on the Article V issue. DESCRIPTION:Randall Schriver meets with Ma Ying-jeou\, former President of the Republic of China. \nJoin us for a public briefing about the U.S.-China relationship and the unfolding strategic competition with the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. \nThe United States and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) may have arrived at an inflection point in the bilateral relationship. While some analysts continue to believe a cooperative relationship is possible\, and that the U.S. and the PRC can form a G-2 type partnership to tackle a range of global challenges\, an increasing number of analyst see a very different trajectory. China’s assertive behavior and confrontational rhetoric suggest we are the leading edge in what will be a long and intense strategic competition for dominance over the Pacific Rim. While American strategists Andrew Marshall\, Robert Kaplan\, and Aaron Friedberg each began foretelling of this great power struggle over a decade ago\, recent events seem to underscore this view. In February 2016\, the U.S. Secretary of Defense\, Ashton Carter\, announced that great power competition has reemerged as the Pentagon’s top priority\, and he expects it will define the next 25 years. Later in the month\, the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command\, Admiral Harry Harris\, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that China seeks hegemony in East Asia. \nAre the U.S. and China destined for strategic competition? Can the relationship be managed to ensure the competition is benign\, doesn’t result in military conflict\, and allows for cooperation to exist where our interests align? Can robust trade and economic ties be sustained in an environment of growing rivalry? What are the key policy choices U.S. decision makers must make to shape the relationship toward its optimal state? Wise and prudent stewardship of a variety of challenges simultaneously will be required for there to be sustained peace and stability. This discussion will examine the current environment and will explore what policy approaches should be adopted by Washington. \nAbout Randall Schriver\nRandall Schriver served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs responsible for the People’s Republic of China\, Taiwan\, Mongolia\, Hong Kong\, Australia\, New Zealand\, and the Pacific Islands.
