Since the creation of Bitcoin in 2008, developments in cryptocurrency have quickly dominated conversations on the future of both the U.S. and global economies. What exactly is Bitcoin? How does it work? How do these cryptocurrencies impact commerce? For many business and political leaders, these questions will determine the future of economic interests well into the 21st century and beyond.
Join the Centennial Institute for a conversation with Tim McTavish as he explains what Bitcoin is and why it is the most consequential innovation of our time, leading to the promotion of economic freedom both in the United States and abroad.

About Tim McTavish:
Tim McTavish joined the CCU Board of Trustees in 2009 during the tenure of then-President Bill Armstrong, and recently served as the interim president of CCU for ten months. Tim founded InsureMe in 1993, an entrepreneurial venture that connected insurance agents with high-intent prospects shopping for insurance. McTavish credits the success of that platform to dedicating the business to Christ while implementing basic biblical principles in the workplace. During his time leading the company, InsureMe was ranked in the “Top 25 Great Places to Work in America” and was also named the most philanthropic small business in Colorado. Since selling InsureMe in 2008, Tim has been an investor in several business endeavors. He teaches Personal Financial Planning in the School of Business and Leadership in CCU’s College of Undergraduate Studies, where he was named affiliate faculty member of the year in 2018, 2021, and 2024. He and his wife, Pam, have three grown children who have graduated from CCU. They consider it an honor and a privilege to serve and support CCU.
