Issue Monday: The Classical and Christian Origins of the American Founding

September 15 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

US Constitution

Join Centennial Institute for our annual Constitution Day Lecture, featuring Dr. Kody W. Cooper.

Over the last few decades, many political philosophers have rejected notions that the American Founders were influenced by classical Judeo-Christian political thought. However, this runs counter to the traditional understanding of the American Founding. Dr. Kody W. Cooper, co-author of the book The Classical and Christian Origins of American Politics: Political Theology, Natural Law, and the American Founding, will examine the evidence for Christianity’s influence on the founders, including their view of providence’s role in the American Revolution and their understanding of foundational political principles, including popular sovereignty and the rule of law.
