Betsy DeVos, former Secretary of Education, to speak at Western Conservative Summit ‘22
LAKEWOOD, Col. — The Centennial Institute, Colorado Christian University’s (CCU) public policy think tank, announced that former U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos will speak at the Western Conservative Summit.
Betsy DeVos is a leader, an innovator, a disruptor, and a champion for freedom. She is the nation’s leading advocate for education freedom for students of all ages, having served as the 11th U.S. Secretary of Education from 2017-2021. For more than three decades, she has been tireless in her pursuit of public policy reforms that get government out of the way and allow all students the freedom, flexibility, resources and support they need to choose where, when and how they learn.
“Colorado Christian University embraces parental rights, school choice, and quality education for all Americans. Secretary DeVos has advanced these principles so that all children have access to a better future. In 2020, Secretary DeVos addressed Colorado Christian University students at the March for Life. You would be hard-pressed to find another university that appreciates the work of Secretary DeVos more than Colorado Christian University. We are thrilled she will be joining us again,” said Jeff Hunt, co-chairman of the Western Conservative Summit.
“As Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos advocated for students and parents—not the teachers unions—to ensure that children receive a quality education,” said Dr. Donald Sweeting, president of CCU. “She advanced school choice, school voucher programs and charter schools. In higher education she made a huge contribution by defending the religious liberty of all faith-based schools to fulfill their mission.”
DeVos’ advocacy has helped create new educational choices for K-12 students in more than 25 states and the District of Columbia, and expanded post-high school education options for students and adult learners alike. Betsy is also an accomplished business leader. She served as Chairman of The Windquest Group, a privately held investment and management firm based in Michigan. She is the former chair of the American Federation for Children, The Philanthropy Roundtable, and the Michigan Republican Party. Betsy is a graduate of Calvin College and is married to entrepreneur, philanthropist and community activist Dick DeVos.
Sec. DeVos joins an already incredible lineup of speakers, including Kayleigh McEnany, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, Governor Kevin Stitt, Isabel Brown, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Allen West, Cal Thomas, Brad Stine, Dr. Kevin Roberts, and many others. The Summit will also feature panel conversations about pro-life issues, election integrity and the future of conservatism.
The two-day summit aims to educate and motivate Americans to understand the top issues facing the nation, with special emphasis on how those issues affect the Western United States. Speakers will emphasize the importance of boldly advancing faith, family and freedom for future generations.
The Western Conservative Summit is one of the largest annual gatherings of conservatives in the West. It’s time to saddle up and ride to advance faith, family, and freedom for our future!
