Centennial Institute Endorses Protect Kids Colorado’s Citizen-Led Initiatives to Safeguard Children
June 4, 2025
LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University has announced its full support for all three ballot initiatives being advanced by Protect Kids Colorado, a grassroots coalition working to ensure the health, safety and dignity of Colorado’s children.
These citizen-led referenda aim to enshrine commonsense protections in Colorado law:
1. Combatting Child Sex Trafficking with Harsh Penalties: This initiative seeks to establish significantly increased criminal penalties for individuals convicted of child sex trafficking in Colorado. The Centennial Institute stands firmly with victims and survivors and believes that justice demands real consequences for those who exploit and abuse the most vulnerable.
2. Protecting Fairness in Women’s and Girls’ Sports: This initiative ensures that athletic competition remains fair by requiring athletes to compete according to their biological sex in K-12 and collegiate sports. Centennial Institute supports this effort as a matter of both integrity in athletics and compassion for young women, whose opportunities should not be compromised.
3. Prohibiting Irreversible Medical Procedures for Minors: This initiative prohibits surgical gender transition procedures for individuals under the age of 18 years. While we recognize the complexity of gender dysphoria, we believe that such deeply consequential and often irreversible decisions should not be made before a child reaches the age of legal adulthood. Protecting minors from life-altering surgeries is a matter of prudence and not politics.
“We commend Protect Kids Colorado for taking bold action to place these issues before the people of Colorado,” said Greg Schaller, Centennial Institute director. “These initiatives reflect a growing recognition across the political spectrum that children need boundaries, protection, and time to mature. As a Christian think tank committed to truth and human dignity, we are proud to lend our voice to this important cause.”
Centennial Institute encourages all Coloradans to learn more about these ballot measures and stand courageously for policies that affirm life, protect innocence, and defend the rights of girls and young women.
